Music Review: Chris Cornell-”Scream”

Imagine (I expect a thought bubble above your head the size of the Hindenburg!).
Jesus Christ got on stage plugged in his Les Paul and started singing. Wait a minute doesn’t he sound like …it cant be…But he sounds just like…Chris Cornell.
So when this Demigod who rocked the world with his ‘Jesus Christ Pose’ has a ‘revelation’ and poof like magic appears ‘Scream’ his boldest album yet.
When the Gargantua of Grunge teamed up with Timbaland and gave to the world ‘Scream’ an album replete with R&B influences, programmed beats and sampled vocals, it seemed like a perfect recipe for disaster. In fact for many of his disciples like me it was nothing short of blasphemy.
But Scream just hits you like a whiff of fresh air you have been waiting for. It simply leaves you right in the middle of denial and temptation. Grunge Cornell of Soundgarden hold s you back while the Cornell of Scream beckons you to come experience change.
The title track ‘Scream’ is the perfect prologue to this album. Cornell’s vocals, Timbaland’s magical beats and a bridge that speaks directly to your soul. It definitely makes me scream at the top of my head.
Never far away ‘with its catchy chorus lingers like an aftertaste.
Take me alive” with its eastern influences is a dreamy track that transports you to a parallel universe where space time continuum is suspended.
Time “is a personal favorite with interesting percussions.
Two Drink Minimum” with John Mayer is like Chris’s ode to the blues.
The remaining tracks like ‘Watch Out’, ‘Long Gone’,’Enemy’ complete the ‘Scream’ Experience.
In short, don’t be a brick head stuck to the stereotype. Experience this album with an open mind and a glass of wine.
