“Keep Calm and Carry On” or else “One Tight Slap”!!

propaganda poster!!

Keep Calm and Carry On. Easier said than done, don’t you think so?
I guess it’s time for a history lesson.
In 1939 when the British feared a German invasion, the ministry of information brought out three propaganda posters in order to boost public morale. Keep Calm and Carry On was one of them, which eventually failed to see the light of the day. Bulk of the posters were incinerated and a few that survived were discovered at the bottom of an antique crate by the owners of a second hand bookshop late in the year 2000.They felt that the poster was just as relevant now as it was back then and turned into a favorable business proposition by selling copies of the posters and other merchandise bearing these innocuous but profound words. The poster gained popularity when it was viewed in the context of the global financial meltdown of the late 2000’s .Right from the walls of 10, Downing Street to the US embassy in Belgium the poster made its presence felt.

Now what if these posters found their way to India and its advice viewed in the context of the plethora of problems that truly make our country what it is.

Imagine gifting a copy of the poster to Arundathi Roy whose voice hoarse with misplaced affection tells us that she is playing nanny to the Maoists.
The outcome: One tight Slap!!
Or why don’t we gift a copy to the Maoists, then the Home Ministry would give you the inevitable Outcome: One tight Slap!!
If you gift it to the home ministry then the Journo’s would give you One Tight Slap!!
How about the Shiv Sena and the Marathi Manoos
Kutriya Saala giving us advice in English .Gappa Bas!! Gheun Tak!!
Outcome: A heavy dose of Marathi abuses and One tight slap!!
Gift it to Lalit Modi and Shahsank Manohar (BCCI president) will give you “One tight Slap”. Gift it to Shashank Manohar and Sharad Powar would give you “One tight slap!!”
Hmm.. come to think of it public morale in India cannot be molded by gentle ‘nudge and coax statements’.

ONE TIGHT SLAP!!

All it takes is ONE TIGHT SLAP!!!!

  1. not always a tough job actually.
when a bomb blasts in bombay, we in the south keep calm and carry on.
when farmers die of poverty, we keep calm and carry on.
when a person is killed in public, we keep calm and carry on.
when the police or politicians, corrupt to the core, take a bribe, we keep calm and carry on…a lot of such instances.
It just goes on on to show tht people pay attention to unwanted and unnecessary things

  2. ROFL… now thts a funny post…
